Whether you know her by her art, curly red hair, or the extremely high pitched squealing noise she makes, often mistaken for a dolphin call, Melissa Galitz is not easily forgotten. The Chicago native currently resides in Dallas, Texas, but not without a few stops along the way.
Her roots are most definitely in art school, most specifically at BGSU in Bowling Green, Ohio, and SACI in Florence, Italy, where she studied fine art and graphic design. Melissa entered college at Bowling Green State University with art and soccer scholarships, and it wasn’t long before she realized she wanted to devote all of her time to her art studies. Although she may have had to put soccer on the backburner while she completed her studies, she still holds the game close to her heart today. If you have yet to meet her, look for her with her camera around her neck, kicking rocks down the street. If she’s not there, she’s on the soccer field!
Melissa was among the few lucky ones, who knew what she wanted to be when she grew up from an early age. Picasso once said, “Every child is born an artist, the trick is how to remain an artist once he grows up.” Having played artist since the day she could hold a pencil, she still plays artist today. She sees the world everyday as if she is looking through a camera, and believes that everything in her life always comes back to the basic principles in fine arts. “The most wonderful thing about art,” Melissa says, “is that it is completely subjective. It can mean one thing to one person and something completely different to the next.”
Interesting facts about Melissa? There are plenty, but here is the Cliff’s Notes version. She plays a lot of soccer. A lot. Her favorite word is catastrophic. She makes and designs greeting in her spare time, and the quote she lives by: “Lead by example.”
Melissa currently works as a Graphic Designer and creates as much art as she can in her spare time. She is currently looking to exhibit and sell her work in new venues and is always accepting commissions.
